Calling itself the “Gateway to the North,” the village of Crivitz serves as a launch pad for vacationers who want to hunt, fish or explore nature as they hike, bike, ride, swim, and paddle in the northwoods. Crivitz has ample places to stock up on the necessities for a weekend away. The village is home to sports shops, gift and craft shops, and gas stations. Treat yourself at one of the village’s fine restaurants, visit a park with the kids, or hike the Don Brooks Peshtigo River Trail.
The village was founded in 1883 by businessman Fredrick J. Bartels, and it bears the name of his hometown of Crivitz, Germany (now a sister city to the Wisconsin community).
