North Central Area Schools is the home of the Jets. The motto of this rural school in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula is “A step toward your future.” The school is committed to providing quality programs and a positive environment that is conducive to learning.
Attending the North Central Elementary School and Junior/Senior High School are students from the towns of Hermansville, Powers, Spalding and the surrounding townships.
Meyer Township is the home of Hermansville, which is called the “Pioneer of Hardwood Flooring.” C.J.L. Meyer invented machinery that revolutionized the hardwood flooring industry and created a business. Lumbering and the hardwood flooring business were two of the town’s earliest enterprises. Visit the IXL Museum to learn more about the town’s history. The museum is located in the former headquarters of the Wisconsin Land & Lumber Company. Hermansville is also home to the Vietnam Veterans Museum and Park.
Spalding, located along U.S. 2 and 41, is named after Jesse Spalding, of Chicago.
