The historic logging town of Wabeno is located in Forest County and is home to about a thousand residents and thousands more visitors. Vacationers have plenty to do in the town. The Knowles Creek Impoundment & Interpretive Trail is a 170-acre wetland impoundment where wildlife viewing is exceptional. Birders will especially enjoy the walk along the mile-long hiking trail to view owls, loons, hawks, eagles and waterfowl.
The Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest trails provide miles of hiking, biking and riding pleasure through the scenic landscape. Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy the rafting, biking, canoeing and ATV or horseback riding in the spring, summer, and fall. In the late fall and winter comes hunting season, ice fishing, snowmobiling and skiing.
