West Iron County
The West Iron County School District educates children from the cities of Iron River, Caspian, and Gaastra, and the townships of Bates, Iron River, and Stambaugh. These small, rural communities welcome tourists year-round because of the natural beauty and great hunting, skiing, and fishing.
The Apple Blossom Hiking Trail is perfect for biking or walking, and residents and visitors alike enjoy fishing in the trout streams, ATV riding, golfing, snowmobiling, skiing, and tubing. The Iron County Fair and U.P. Rodeo are a few of the top attractions in the summertime. Skiing at Ski Brule or Spring Valley Ski Hill are winter favorites.
While the scenery provides a breathtaking view, it’s the residents that really stand out. The many small communities in the region provide a small-town atmosphere in which to raise a family and a rewarding quality of life for residents of all ages.
